Postdoctoral Associate - Alzheimer's disease

Summary

The Postdoctoral Associate will be working in a project to investigate the relationship between aging and neurodegeneration and more specifically on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work with Drosophila and cellular models of these disorders using genetic, statistical, biochemical, and other molecular approaches. This will require working with robots, computers, specialized software, and stereomicroscopes in addition to the genetic and molecular biology benches.

Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.

Job Duties

• Performs multi-omics analyses of centenarians.
• Builds cross-species longevity networks.
• Conducts genetic screens using Drosophila disease and aging models.
• Assesses neuronal dysfunction using locomotor assays and operates robotic equipment.
• Analyzes data using advanced statistical methods.
• Conducts assays to assess and quantifies neurotoxic protein levels using immunoblotting techniques.
• Writes and prepares manuscript for publication.
• Addresses reviews following submission.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.
